Typeforce 5 / Opening Night

I'm very excited to a part of this year's Typeforce, Showcase of Typographic All-Stars.

Come on out to the opening tomorrow night!
Friday Feb. 28 from 7-10pm.

The work shown in TYPEFORCE celebrates both excellence and innovation in language, lettering and typography. In years past the show has featured some of today's strongest emerging type and lettering talent.

Typeforce is presented by Chicago's Firebelly Design and Public Media Institute. Note - after the opening, the gallery will only be open by appointment. Please contact the Co-Prosperity Sphere directly.

Opening Reception / Discarded: the Afterlife of Everyday Electronics

Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 5:30-8:30pm

Come on out to the opening reception of Discarded!

Discarded: the Afterlife of Everyday Electronics focuses on the abundance of everyday electronics and constant upgrades of technology, while examining what happens to the previous versions when deemed no longer useful. This multimedia exhibition uses performances, interactive arts, mixed media, time-based works, and installation to display the excess of outdated electronic devices. Artists examine issues ranging from planned obsolescence of technology, the proliferation of unwanted electronics being re-appropriated as art materials, and the feeling of nostalgia for the "rejected" vintage items. Through this work, the exhibition uncovers narratives for the discarded items that often find a new life after being left behind.
